Mad Honey from Nepal is wild honey hand-picked by collectors at altitudes above 3,500m in the Himalayas. Local honey harvesting is a dangerous activity and you can watch the process here. Nepalese wild honey is 100% natural, unprocessed, unfiltered and without additives. Used as a medicine by locals in the Himalayas and Black Sea region for thousands of years, natural Mad honey also has an intoxicating effect.
The name "Mad Honey" is due to its intoxicating properties. This honey contains the chemical grayanotoxin, which comes from the nectar of the rhododendron plant. Bees collect the nectar of these flowers and then process it into honey, with the grayanotoxin from the rhododendron plant passing into the honey. The grayanotoxin, also called "rhodotoxin", gives a feeling of well-being and euphoria when this honey is consumed. Real wild honey can be recognized by its dark color and typical bitter taste.
It is recommended to consume a small amount (1 teaspoon) daily.
